Upon completion of the coursework, students receive a certificate from UMDNJ and are eligible for national certification exams in the specific clinical laboratory science discipline. Credits may be applied to the Medical Laboratory Science Program within 5 years of completion.

There is a national and regional shortage of clinical laboratory professionals and many employment opportunities are available in clinical laboratories of hospitals, commercial and reference laboratories, physician offices and health clinics and local and State public health departments.

Students register on a non-matriculated basis through the Rutgers-Center for Advanced and Continuing Education.
