CACE Overview & Step-by-Step Enrollment Process

Overview

Non-matriculated Status is for individuals not currently admitted to any SHRP program. Non-matriculated students may take up to 12 credits of course work and are not considered to be pursuing an institutional credential (degree).
Persons applying for non-matriculation status shall be required to:

  • complete Non-Matriculated Application/Registration
  • submit appropriate educational/licensing credentials when requested
  • submit appropriate health documents
  • pay tuition and fees (tuition and fee collection is calculated by the online form)

Other documents may be required at the discretion of the program director or the program admissions committee.
Financial Support: UMDNJ financial aid is not available for non-matriculated students. Appropriate, authorized vouchers from third party payers (e.g.the U.S. Military, employers, etc.) are accepted and must be filed with the CACE office before enrollment deadlines.

An array of Certificate programs are open to approved non-matriculated students. Aspiring certificate students should enroll as non-matriculated students while the Application for Certificate  of Study Application is pending.  After acceptance, certificate students will continue to use the online non-matriculated student registration form each term of active enrollment.  To apply for a Certificate, see Certificate section below.

CACE Step-by-Step Application/Registration

Step 1 – Check out the CACE Scope of Offerings:

  • Consult the Online Course Schedule to search by SHRP/Department and Courses for detail about syllabus\start&end dates\instructor contact information
  • Consult the academic calendar for non-matric. open enrollment periods

Note: All applications for CACE  non-matriculated enrollment are subject to departmental approval and course enrollment is constrained by class size restrictions.

Step 2 - Ready to Register?   

Completely fill out the online  application/registration form  
The online form is only available during open enrollment periods. Tuition and fees calculations are reflected within the form.  Credit card data is handled securely and charges will not be processed until each student registration has been approved and entered into our Student Information System.

Step 3- Approval Process

You will be contacted by e-mail during each step of the approval and enrollment process. After enrollment is completed, you will receive login and network credentials from the CACE Coord.

Who can attend SHRP as a non-matriculated student?

Individuals with program-appropriate pre-requisite knowledge are welcome to enroll as non-matriculated CACE students at SHRP. Students can take individual courses (up to twelve credits) or enroll in a Certificate program. After you submit your online application, a CACE representative will discuss any pre-requisites and/or professional licensing requirements for the course(s) or Certificate you have selected.  In addition, CACE will accommodate individuals whose SHRP college advisors recommend early enrollment while a degree admissions application is pending.

For detailed information about career prospects, requirements, etc. for individual CACE certificate programs, refer to specific Certificate Program brochures. All certificate applications are forwarded to departments for review and approval.  Aspiring certificate students may enroll as non-matriculated students while the Application for Certificate of Study Application is pending.  After acceptance, certificate students will continue to use the online non-matriculated student registration form to enroll each term of activity until the Certificate is completed.  To apply for a Certificate,  click on  the online  CACE Certificate Application below.

Step 2: Credentials:  After you apply, you will receive e-mail confirmation and requests for documentation/credentials that are required for consideration of your application. Most of the business will be conducted via e-mail.

For  Accepted Certificate Students:

Once approved, you will recieve a packet of materials (e.g. a Program Requirements Document, Honor Code statement and in some cases be required to download Health/Immunization and Criminal Background forms). When all of your required forms have been entered into record, you will be given permission to enroll as a non-matriculated student (see step-by-step process above). It will be your responsibility to match your sequence of enrollment with the course(s) listed in the Program Requirements Document that you have signed and submitted.

Who can attend SHRP as a Certificate student?

Individuals with program-appropriate pre-requisite knowledge are welcome to apply for Certificate Admission. Students can take a maximum number of credits as defined by each Certifcate Program brochure. courses. You will be assigned a faculty advisor afer admission to the Certificate program. CACE Certificate students have to pay all non-matricualted student fees each semester they register for classes.

  • Many of our CACE courses are online; see Admissions-FAQs  and click on on-line learning for getting-started information
  • Non-matriculated students who wish to pursue a UMDNJ degree in the School of Health Related Professions apply for admissions through the Office of Enrollment Services and  are required to submit all documents required by the school and their respective programs even if some of these documents were on file during a previous Non-Matric. Application process. Being a non-matriculated student does not assure admission into a degree-granting program.
